Self–Worth in Success

I constantly fall into the trap of believing self-worth is defined by what I’ve achieved and what I have.

How we define our own self-worth is a deeply emotional experience, it’s shaped usually by our childhood experiences. How our parents have raised us, who we’re surrounded by or sometimes even childhood trauma.

Contrary to popular belief, your self-worth is not your:

  • Accomplishments
  • Net-worth
  • Career
  • Age
  • Or your significant other.

Your achievements do boost self-esteem linking achievements to your confidence is inconsistent, which explains why it may be a struggle to feel worthy.

Real self-worth is only found within. The only way to value your self-worth that’s everlasting is to affirm your own worth is within yourself.

So, stop linking self-worth to things, achievements and people. Find your worth within yourself by understanding that ‘self-worth’ is an internal state of being and self-acceptance.

🇺🇦 P.S. I just want to use this chance to acknowledge the humanitarian crisis happening in Ukraine right now. I don’t typically use the platform for political views or opinions, because that’s not why you guys tune in here. But I have shared a great article on why we should be donating money and not supplies to Ukraine if you’re looking to help where you can.

Best

My New Smart Home Setup

A bit of a guide and an apartment tour, showing my smart home setup and the upgrades I’ve made this month.

A large part of the upgrade consists of Aqara smart home pieces, which added all sorts of smart functionality on a budget.

There’s also a chance to win an Aqara Camera Hub G3, more details in the video.

🌾 Link Harvest – a curated list of useful things

🇺🇦 Ukraine: Money not Supplies – If you want to help with the humanitarian crisis happening, here’s a great article explaining why we should donate money not supplies.

Sonos Roam – The latest (and smallest) product in the Sonos speaker lineup and I’ve been loving it.

Ampere Shower Pro – A seriously cool hydro-powered, wireless shower speaker. Haven’t gone a shower without tunes or podcasts since.

Stem Player – DONDA 2 exclusively dropped on this unique music player last month. Not sure how I feel about it just yet.

Multi-Million Dollar Company Without Any Meetings or Deadlines – I really dislike meetings. So seeing Gumroad build a successful business with essentially zero full time employees and meetings resonates with me.

The Trap of Turning a Passion into a Career The other week during a call, we found ourselves discussing passion projects and hobby businesses. It’s easier than ever to chase your passion and it’s also more wanted than ever. Who doesn’t want to make money from what they love doing? We've all heard it before: "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." Yet, during the call we both realized our friends or acquaintances who have transformed their passions into successful...

Understanding the AI Hype Let’s talk AI for a moment. Because I feel like it’s so grossly misunderstood and its hype is confusing. If you used Google Translate, Apple Siri or even a robot vacuum cleaner, these are all elements of AI that we know and love. So in fact, you and I have been using AI for a while! It’s not like AI has suddently arrived is becoming the Singularity (a hypothetical future where technological growth becomes uncontrollable). But the trend a decade ago was to hide the AI...

Today’s Newsletter Partnered With ClearVPN 2 Living The Best Life I’ve been thinking about how I want to live life and best use my time. The easiest way to break down life is into categories: Relationships Work & Finances Health Learning Mental Wellbeing Over the last half year, I’ve been consumed by work – putting in countless hours, weekends and not drawing a line. I’ve been over indexing on work. Recently I’ve taken time to balance the life categories, where I’d choose to work late nights...
